Dr G. Michael Lopez

For New Mexico State Senate, District 8

WHY I’M RUNNING

Concerned For Our Families

For the past 42 years, I've served Northern New Mexico as a physician. I understand our district's challenges, including healthcare, job creation, water conservation, and crime. As your state senator, I'll work to ensure our voices are heard. I believe in healthcare decisions made by patients with their doctors, quality early childhood education, and safe, prosperous communities. It is time for a change!

Meet Dr. Lopez

I'm Dr. Michael Lopez, born and raised in the vibrant community of Las Vegas, New Mexico, where I also spent my childhood on our family's ranch in Mora County. I am the son of Gilbert “Gillie” and Rosaline Lopez who were long-time educators in Las Vegas. During my high school years, I was deeply involved in athletics, earning letters in four sports. Throughout those formative years, I spent my summers working on our family ranch near Watrous, NM, learning the values of hard work and dedication…

- Enact legislation that is tough on drug dealers and violent criminals.

- Support local businesses to create job opportunities.

-I’m a firm believer in allocating more resources to education, especially for early childhood education. I also advocate for providing more educational opportunities for citizens who want to pursue careers in the trades

-Acequias are the lifeblood of Northern New Mexico and these infrastructures need more maintenance and resources to function efficiently
